Printed Art Quilts
Using sewn fabrics, printmaking, and quilting, my current body of work examines moments of motherhood in everyday life, and the tension between the solitude of daily domestic care as a single mother and the deep, enduring love between a parent and child. Combining printmaking techniques on fabric, with sewing, stitching and quilting, I investigate themes of memory, motherhood, and home and belonging. Using sewn fabrics and printmaking, including linocut and cyanotype, I construct depictions of mothers and children in lived environments, both interior homes and exterior urban spaces. At the core of this work is an attempt to portray the delicate balance of both the monotony and magic found in the ordinary, sacred moments of motherhood.
